Greg Dilworth, 25 year Certified USA Fencing Referee

Greg Dilworth will be teaching the referee development clinic. Greg has been a nationally-rated referee for over 25 years. He has the highest referee rating and has refereed final 8 matches in all three weapons. He has taught successful referee seminars in all parts of the country.

His clinic will provide you with a broad understanding of the role, responsibilities and duties of a referee. He will refine your sense of right-of-way, timing and your application of the rules. Attending an official RC-sanctioned clinic is a prerequisite for becoming a certified USA Fencing referee. In addition to this clinic, you must complete an online written exam and be observed actually refereeing. Once a passing score (90%) has been achieved on the written exam (both the general section and one or more weapon-specific sections), a referee receives a rating of “P” in each weapon passed. Further ratings improvements can be obtained by being evaluated in a practical. It is highly recommended that you take and pass the examination prior to the practical.

The clinic will be held on Saturday and Sunday (January 14th and 15th) from 6:00p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

You must attend both sessions to receive credit for the course! It is highly recommended that you read the USA Fencing rulebook (https://www.usafencing.org/usa-fencing-rule-book) prior toattending. As with everything else in fencing, come prepared.

Professional Fencing Photography

Serge Timacheff, Olympic fencing photographer

Looking for professional, world-class photos of your fencer? As an added attraction at the Clash, we have asked Serge to join us and we will be subsidizing his services.

Serge Timacheff, six-time Olympic fencing photographer for the FIE, USA Fencing, Corbis, and Getty Images (among others) will be officially covering all Clash events. We have asked him to focus on the finals and medal ceremonies, and to take candid photos around the venue as only he sees them. All of these will be available and for sale to all attendees. On a time-available basis, he can also photograph individual fencers in direct elimination rounds. Feel free to stop by his desk at the Clash, near the medals area and finals strip, to arrange a photo session or to acquire individual photos. Serge is currently the official photographer for USA Fencing and editor of American Fencing, and media manager for the International Fencing Federation (FIE). Since 2003, his iconic fencing photos from hundreds of regional, national, and international championships around the world have been published worldwide. We are honored to have him. This is the way tournaments used to be; don’t miss out.

Please leave your contact information using the form below if you would like Serge to reach out to you about scheduling time for your fencing photography. Thank you!
