The National Fencing Foundation has a long history supporting youth fencing in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Since 2007, the National Fencing Foundation has provided free classes, equipment, and instruction to underprivileged youth to develop personal character, academic achievement, and athletic excellence.
In 2019, the National Fencing Foundation began its campaign to support military veterans and first responders who are learning wheelchair fencing. All instruction and equipment were provided to fencers free of charge.
The National Fencing Foundation is proud to be the host & sponsor of one of the largest annual youth fencing tournaments in the world: the Capitol Clash.
In 2024, the National Fencing Foundation will host its 13th Capitol Clash tournament over Martin Luther King Jr weekend. Learn more by visiting the Capitol Clash website.
Scholarships have been made available to fencers who have shown dedication to the sport, demonstrate the ability to achieve success in fencing, and have a strong academic record. They are designed to support fencers’ ability to compete in national and international tournaments by providing reimbursement for travel-related expenses.
